CEO StatementA New Business Year and New Challenges A commentary by Sam Ferguson, CEO, EDM Group
At EDM, we’re just starting our new business year, and it is a good time to reflect on the year just ended and to anticipate the one to come. For EDM Group, FY 2011 was very successful, despite the continuing uncertainties and challenges in current markets. We achieved our targets for revenue and profit, both of which showed significant growth on the preceding year. Taking into account that, as a service provider to financial services companies and large corporates our customers’ own trading levels directly affect the volume of business they give to us, I am very pleased that we achieved what we set out to do. One of the reasons why we are succeeding is that we offer a range of services that perfectly meets our customers’ needs in the current climate. We’re finding that our unique combination of outsourced services and technology solutions, underpinned by real business insight and expertise, matches the requirements our customers have. Whilst each customer is different, in today’s market conditions our ability to reduce costs, dramatically boost efficiency, improve customer service and ensure compliance is something that all our customers value. An 18 month investment programme has delivered technology improvements across the company allowing us to support increasing numbers of customers through faster systems and improved security, and enabling leading edge solutions such as intelligent data capture and categorisation in our digital mailrooms. In the coming year we will also continue investment in premises and facilities to cope with increasing demand. This is why in recent months we have won significant new business from clients as diverse as Mercedes-Benz Finance, Manchester Airport Group, InBev, Logica, BMI Hospitals, Bupa, Cancer Research UK, Transport for London and a number of NHS Trusts and other public sector organisations. I am excited at the prospects for FY 2012. EDM is uniquely placed to help them to set their businesses free from the constraints of paper based processing. Our Digital Mailroom solution ensures that our customers are able to process inbound communications, through whatever channel they arrive – post, email, fax, or web – efficiently, with the minimum of manual intervention. Our total information management solution, combining leading-edge technologies with high capacity outsourced services, is proven to work. It supports efficiency, service and compliance improvement programmes and delivers those benefits quickly, showing ROI in 6-9 months. I don’t believe that any other supplier in the sector can match EDM’s technology, expertise, capacity and sheer ability to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions – all from a single provider. Let’s hope that the coming year sees the UK economy returning to steady sustainable growth which I am sure will, in turn, lead to increasing numbers of new customers seeking information management and business process improvement solutions from EDM Group.
