HomeServe offers insurance-based home repairs through approved plumbers, electricians and heating & appliance engineers, offering one-off repairs and home emergency protection to consumers across the UK, France, Spain and the USA. The company handles approximately 8,000 emergency repairs each day in the UK alone which are serviced by a workforce of registered tradesmen.
As a result of departmental mergers there was a need to convey and manage 2,800 paper-based HR files that included confidential employee information such as contracts, review records and disciplinary documents.
HomeServe approached a number of industry providers and quickly identified that EDM was able to provide the most technically advanced and well developed solution to meet their quality requirements and information security needs.
In total more than half a million images have been securely transported, scanned, stored and made available to staff electronically, via EDM's on-line hosted document management service, EDM Online. The EDM solution has reduced the staff cost of manual hard copy retrieval and also re-filing after use, which is now totally eliminated by EDM Online. Document sharing is far easier and both the cost and environmental impact of photocopying have almost been eliminated.
