EDM has the capacity to scan very large volumes of archived documents, microfiche and microfilm at our state-of-the-art scanning facilities. Our service includes the collection and secure transportation of your documents and records to one of our centres for scanning, and the delivery of the resulting images via our hosted document management system, EDM Online, or other secure methods or media. Digitising your archived information in this way makes it less vulnerable to loss and deterioration and more accessible should you need to locate a document. It also helps with the management of document retention policies, by readily identifying documents that can be securely destroyed.

Many organisations hold archives of data in book form. In some cases they are valuable historical documents in bound book form such as formal registers, in other cases they are up-to-the minute data which is recorded in bound books for record purposes, such as research or laboratory notes. Whatever their origins and purpose, such books are typically the only copy of the information, which makes it vulnerable to loss or damage, and difficult to share. EDM Group has specialised hardware, software, skills and experience that allow us to digitise bound volumes without damaging their pages or binding and which compensate for the awkwardness of the format, ensuring excellent image quality. |
