CaptureData capture describes the process of turning analogue data such as paper documents, microfiche and microfilm into electronic files that can be stored alongside digital data. In most cases, this will involve scanning documents to create a digital image. EDM operates state-of-the-art processing centres which can deal with high volume back file and daily post scanning, and we can also provide in-house workstations for ad hoc scanning on-site. The resulting images are stored in our hosted information management system, EDM Online. Having been refined over many years, our capture technology includes an advanced suite of software modules for post-production functions including image improvement, OCR (translating images of text into characters) and data capture. If documents include barcodes, these can be automatically read during the scanning process to identify the document and initiate the correct business process. See also: Document scanning |
